A low-pressure rotor manufactured by GE Steam Power passed factory acceptance as the first steam turbine component to be supplied by AAEM LLC

AAEM LLC (a joint venture of Atomenergomash JSC and General Electric), the supplier of steam turbine equipment package for Akkuyu nuclear power plant, participated in the acceptance of a steam turbine HIP rotor for Akkuyu Unit 1, in the committee that also included Akkuyu Nuclear JSC and VO Safety. The rotor was manufactured by GE Steam Power at the factory in Belfort, four months ahead of schedule.

AAEM's scope of work includes engineering, quality documentation follow-up, and arranging comprehensive interface between the manufacturer and the authorized organization, VO Safety, during the acceptance.

“For Atomenergomash, AAEM and General Electric, this is a landmark event that proves we are capable of ensuring the supply of Safety Class III turbine equipment. AAEM has earned recognition as an important stakeholder in international projects having high technology competences in both the design of nuclear turbine island equipment and the development of state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies," said Ilya Vergizaev, General Director of AAEM LLC.

AAEM joint venture was established in 2007 to supply equipment for nuclear turbine halls featuring Russian design, using ARABELLE™ steam turbine technology by GE. Since 2017, AAEM has been performing the project to supply steam turbine package equipment for the turbine hall of Akkuyu nuclear power plant (Republic of Turkey). The project includes 4 units rated at 1255 MW each. The main equipment of the steam turbine plant for the turbine hall, including the half-speed ARABELLE™ steam turbine, four-pole GIGATOP™ generator, and the condenser vacuum system equipment, will be manufactured by GE Steam Power. The pumps, heat-exchange and other auxiliary equipment will be mainly manufactured by Atomenergomash JSC factories: ZiO Podolsk JSC, CKBM JSC, Ganz, ARAKO, ATM JSC, CNIITMASH JSC. The turbine island systems designed by AAEM will ensure maximum efficiency, reliability and safety of the unit operation as a whole.

The Akkuyu NPP construction project consists of four units equipped with Russian VVER-1200 reactor plants (generation 3+) complying with the most stringent safety standards. The electric output of each NPP unit will be 1255 MW.
