Rusatom Overseas and MEDSI will build a nuclear medicine center in the Moscow region

01.08.2014 12:05  Rusatom Overseas, subsidiary of ROSATOM, and MEDSI, largest network of private medical clinics in Russia, signed Memorandum of Intent that provides for joint implementation of the project of establishing a nuclear medicine center.

The nuclear medicine center will be located in the MEDSI medical park in Otradnoye, Moscow region, and will consist of two units: the nuclear medicine center itself and the ion proton therapy center. In those centers, patients will be able to get medical diagnostic services using such methods as radionuclide single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) and radionuclide positron emission tomography (PET), as well as services in radionuclide therapy, brachytherapy and ion proton radiotherapy. In addition to that, the center will house production of radiopharmaceuticals for internal needs and for the needs of other medical facilities.

In the project, MEDSI will offer medical solutions, train medical personnel and organize patient flow and sale of goods and services, whereas Rusatom Overseas will act as project architect and integrator, provide for supplies and maintenance of the main equipment and train technical staff.

“The partnership between Rusatom Overseas and MEDSI will allow to create a unique high-tech medical center that will incorporate innovative approaches in diagnostics and treatment of oncological and other diseases. We are happy that together with such a partner as MEDSI we will be able to enhance possibilities of application of atom for peace in Russian healthcare,” – said Dzhomart Aliev, Rusatom Overseas CEO.

“Signing of the Memorandum corresponds to our goal to integrate cutting-edge treatment methods and technologies into Russian healthcare, and in the first place those that are based on early detection of a disease. Creation of the nuclear medicine center is our input into development of high-tech national healthcare, and it contributes to the goal that has been set within the framework of Russian healthcare system reform which is raising the level of medical treatment in Russia,” – stated Alexey Chupin, MEDSI President.
