About us

"Turbine Technology AAEM" Limited Liability Company ("AAEM" LLC) is a joint venture between Atomenergomash JSC (51%) and General Electric (49%) established in 2007 with a mission to supply turbine hall equipment for national and foreign nuclear power plant projects using the Russian reactor technology. In compliance with the articles of incorporation, AAEM received the Arabelle technology for 1000-1800 MW class half-speed turbines and generators.

The main lines of AAEM business include:

  • Manufacture of steam turbines and generators with ratings 1000 - 1800 MW based on the half-speed Arabelle technology
  • Integration and delivery of equipment packages using the half-speed Arabelle technology for turbine islands of nuclear power plants with Russian VVER-type reactors
  • Service and retrofit of nuclear power plant turbine island equipment.

AAEM is headquartered in St. Petersburg. The AAEM is entirely staffed with experienced specialists committed to meeting Company's obligations in delivering turn-key nuclear power plant equipment including qualified engineers experienced in engineering and manufacturing of such nuclear power plant turbine island equipment as: turbines, generators, auxiliary systems, heat exchange equipment (moisture separator reheaters, condensers, deaerators, HP/LP heaters), piping and valves. With the assistance of GE Steam Power Systems and Atomenergomash, the JV has integrated up-to-date software for heat balance/pipe stress calculations and 3D-simulation, which enables the Company to analyse and offer to the Customer the most efficient design solutions for both power plant construction and retrofit projects.

AAEM benefits from half-speed Arabelle Turbine Generator Set technology recognized as the best technologies in the world. It offers to the Customer the most efficient NPP turbine island construction concept. In 2010 AAEM jointly with ASE and GE Steam Power Systems developed a standard Arabelle turbine hall design for nuclear plants with Russian VVER type reactors offering the best combination of construction costs and maintenance simplicity with an efficiency of more than 37.7 % and reliability of 99.96%.

The company allowed to create new jobs both for highly skilled professionals and young Russian engineers. Employees of the Company have a unique opportunity to share experience with Atomenergomash and GE Steam Power Systems in the process of day-to-day issues solution and acquire a vital competence. Most of the specialists have been trained by Atomenergomash and GE Steam Power Systems in different aspects of the Company's activities including engineering and production, sourcing and procurement, quality, safety and environmental protection.

We welcome all visitors of our web site and look forward to establishing fruitful partnerships for successful development of the Russian nuclear turbine manufacturing industry.
